Firelight Farmstead

Hearty and flavorful sourdough bagels and loaves baked at our small farmstead in Northfield, VT

Since 2023

About Firelight Farmstead

Welcome to Firelight Farmstead! We are Alex and Clara, a husband-and-wife team baking sourdough bread, raising chickens, and growing fruit trees at our home in beautiful Northfield, Vermont.

We are transplants to Northfield from the Boston area, where Alex ran Levend Bagelry—a beloved hub for hand-shaped, organic sourdough bagels in the Boston Public Market. After a fulfilling-yet-frenzied seven years of daily baking in downtown Boston, we headed for the hills and are so excited to offer delicious sourdough products to our new central Vermont community at a more life-sustaining pace.

Our name, “Firelight Farmstead,” is inspired by the feeling of warmth and togetherness of gathering around a fire. (That and the fact that we’re in the process of building a wood-fired oven for future bakes!)

We are so grateful to be putting down roots in Northfield and look forward to sharing our bread with you!

Our current offerings

We are always looking to expand our menu! Let us know if there’s something in particular you would like and we’ll try to make it happen!

Seeded Maple Wheat Sandwich Loaf

Made with a blend of organic white and whole wheat flours, sunflower seeds, ground flax seeds, oats, and a drizzle of local maple syrup. This is delicious for sandwiches or toast!

Sprouted Wheat Country Wheat

Our country wheat is a blend of organic white and whole wheat flour and with a 24+ hour ferment, the sourdough provides great depth of flavor without imparting a strong sour feel.  Eat it for breakfast, dip it in soup, make a hearty sandwich, or just rip it off in hunks and dip it in olive oil!

Rosemary Garlic Focaccia

Organic Flour and rosemary and garlic infused olive oil combine to create this light and fluffy sourdough focaccia. Sourdough for the depth and health benefits without the tang makes this a winner served along any dinner or great for snacking as is.
